Conserving water can help save on your bill because local groundwater districts may increase their customer fees when too much water is used. For more information about how you can conserve water, view our NextEra Water – Water Saving Tips page.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established drinking water standards to protect America’s drinking water supply.
More than 92% of the population, who are served by community water systems, receive drinking water that meets all the EPA’s health-based standards.
Under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), individual states can set their own drinking water standards, if they are at least as strong as the EPA’s national standards.
NextEra Water is committed to meeting or exceeding all state and EPA standards for drinking water, as well as abide by all water-testing schedules and methods.
Customers are encouraged to sign up for alerts from NextEra Water to stay informed of any water advisories in their area.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that is released from rocks into the ground, water and air. Nearly all water contains some fluoride.
NextEra Water abides by all state and local community public health measures regarding adding fluoride to the drinking water supply to reduce tooth decay. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) establishes drinking water standards for fluoride.
The current enforceable drinking water standard for fluoride is 4.0 mg/L, which is the maximum amount that is allowed in water from public water systems. The EPA also has a secondary standard for fluoride of 2.0 mg/L, which is recommended to protect children from excess fluoride exposure. Customers can see if their water system adds fluoride by visiting the CDC My Water's Fluoride webpage.
NextEra Water, along with every public water system and community water supplier, is required by law to provide an annual report called a Consumer Confidence Report – or CCR – to its customers.
The CCR gives customers information on their drinking water quality, as well as the water’s source, any contaminants found in the water and what they can do to help protect their drinking water.
In Texas, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires every community public water system to provide a CCR to their customers by July 1 every year, containing information from the previous calendar year.
NextEra Water customers can find their CCRs on the NextEra Water website by searching under their state tab and community
