Pennsylvania Waterway

NextEra Water Pennsylvania, LLC, has reached an agreement to purchase Towamencin Township’s wastewater system in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  The agreement follows an open public bid process established by Towamencin’s elected Board of Supervisors to sell the wastewater system.  We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of the community and to serve you for years to come with best-in-class customer service.

NextEra Water is a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc., a leading utility company and the world’s largest producer of renewable energy from the wind and sun.  We serve nearly 6 million utility customer accounts, and have electric power generation and transmission assets in 38 states, including Pennsylvania. NextEra Energy and its affiliates have extensive processed water and wastewater experience managing, on average, 1.9 trillion gallons of water per year across 25 power generating facilities throughout the country.  We also own and operate a portfolio of 23 water and 5 wastewater utility systems in Texas.

Assuming a successful conclusion to the transaction before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, NextEra Water Pennsylvania intends to make significant capital investments over the course of the next decade, including upgrades to aging equipment, reduced infiltration and inflow, lower energy consumption, improved water quality to the Towamencin Creek and increased overall reliability of the system.  Customers can expect to maintain the quality customer service and support that they receive today.

We work hard to be a good neighbor, to support local events and programs, and to hire locally.  We look forward to being a member of the regional community, and our sponsorship of the Towamencin Community Partnership Program and Towamencin Youth Association is only the beginning of our commitment to invest locally.  We also look forward to welcoming the employees of the Towamencin Sewer Authority to the NextEra Energy family and the wealth of knowledge and experience they will bring with them.

Our value to the community includes:

  • Superior Reliability and Environmental Stewardship
  • Innovative Technologies and Cybersecurity Protections
  • World-Class Customer Service
  • Operational Expertise to Deliver Cost Efficiencies
  • Significant Community Support and Engagement
  • Meaningful Property Tax Revenues for Decades
  • Employment Opportunities with a Leading Utility Company

We are excited about what the future holds and look forward to sharing more information as the sale advances through the regulatory approval process at the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
